Good eats in Bolovia and Peru

I haven't updated this blog for a while so I have a long post today of some of the dishes I photographed while in Bolivia and Peru

No I didn't eat this vicuna, just thought it was cute.

I stopped here a few times while walking through the mercado in la paz, I would just have her blend up the fruit and put it in a cup like that. I asked for no sugar. Tasting the variety of fruits in different countries is so much fun.
Bread stop.

Cereals
Seriously the best pineapple I have ever tasted. It was soooo sweet, so juicy and I licked my fingers after eating it

lake titicaca
Caldo the pollo (chicken soup) this is what I ate for 3 days in a row after getting food poisoning

This plentiful breakfast provided me with my first wake up call upon arriving to Peru. Que Viva!!!
I was so happy here

I forget what this were called now...but they were d'lish. I believe its shortbread and carmel with drizzled coconut
Rainbow trout on lake titicaca
Chicken Salad in La Paz
Ceviche...my favorite

Matt's Big Breakfast

Here is a another restaurant from Diners, Drive-ins and Dives

My friend Patty picked me up from the airport at 9:00am and we headed straight to Matt's big breakfast. It's open from 6:30am-2:30am it's mainly dedicated to breakfast although they do serve lunch also. We waited about 45min for a table. I didn't know that they do to go orders (or didn't think about it) it would have been better to take the food to go and go eat it at the park or something. The place is really small. It was kind of hard waiting that long with two little ones. My friend Patty has a 2yr old and a 1yr old. Then when we got inside it was crampy for them. The food though was so d'lish~

These hash browns are so bomb!! They are super crispy on the top and bottom and butter and mushy inside. The bacon too is crispy, peppery and very thick. I was in a food coma after eating here. I wish I could go back just thinking about it. Oh and the bread was also really good, with homemade strawberry jam.

Rosemary home fries. They were very tasty, and not too greasy

The waffle was so fluffy and toasty. Good thing I tried it before little Shyanne poured orange juice on it. LOL!

Thursday

Huas Murphy's German Restaurant

Haus Murphy's was featured on Guy Fiery's DDD so while in arizona my friend Patty and I headed over there. We were greated almost immediately after being seated. The restaurant is really cute, decorated with flags and antiques.

Pale Ale
Patty had the sweet and sour marinated beef served with red cabbage and spaetzle.
I tried and the beef was nice and tender, the sauce was tangy but not too sweet.
I ordered the corned beef sandwich. The fries were crispy and hot. The corned beef was lean. The sandwich was so thick I couldn't bite into it. I had to split it up. This was one of the best corned beef sandwiches I've ever had. I don't like it when the bread is too greasy. This was perfect.
for dessert we shared the german chocolate cake. OMG!! it was delicious. We killed it. It was a perfect combination of fluffy, sweet but not to rich chocolaty goodness.
This what was left of it in about 10min. It was THAT good~

ADDICTED

`

I consider myself a foodie. Eating is most definitely a hobby of mine. Yet my experience has been that the more food I eat the more I want. Just like with any other addiction I suppose. One of the things I have started doing the past 3 years is to go on a raw food detox. When I first did this 3 years ago, I had been suffering from migraines for quite some time. The migraines however were getting increasingly worse. It got to the point where I was going to the doctor to get a shot to be able to function. I heard about this place in San Diego called Optimum Health Institute. I was desperate so I decided to give it a try. I definitely learned a lot about healing my body with organic raw foods. I felt like a new person after one week of staying there. I still however have not given up the foodie side of who I am. I do find though that every time I go, I pick up a new healthy habit. This time I continued the detox for almost a whole week after leaving. I also plan to incorporate more raw foods into my diet & continue to juice veggies and wheatgrass.

At OHI this is what a typical breakfast consists of.. usually some sort of organic fruit. like watermelon, oranges or cantalope
this is a typical raw lunch. salad greens, sprouts, seed cheese
a raw dinner, cold organic tomato soup, raw crackers, salad greens and sprouts
for 2 1/2 days you do only juice

The organic garden at OHI

I love avocado ;)
aren't the colors pretty?
red and yellow chard
beautiful artichoke plant

China Point Ontario| Rancho Cucamonga Food Photographer

A couple months my friend Lia and I happen to be in the Ontario area, we were looking forward to having a healthy lunch at souplantation. We were hungry and couldn't wait to get there and grub. On the way she started talking about this little hole in the wall restaurant called china point. She said it's in a strip mall on Archibald and it's the bomb. I was intrigued and while I had been looking forward to a big plate full of salad green and raw veggies...a great hole in the wall restaurant is one I will never pass up. So we went and it did not disappoint. First let me say Chinese food is not a favorite of mine. However I enjoyed China Point very much. I recommend it if you are in the area. They have a great lunch special for $5.99 with yummy wonton soup, salad and a egg roll.

The orange Chicken was tangy, crispy and moist
Fried shrimp. Big portions ;)
this was my favorite. The spicy eggplant crispy yet soft in the middle you can't go wrong ordering this

If you are in the area or on your way to the airport or just in from a flight I recommend China Point

Saffron At Riverside Art Museum| Riverside Photographer

I Might have found my new favorite lunch place. Saffron at Riverside Art Museum. Alexis, Todd and I went to lunch here the day after she came up to visit me and I did her and Todd's engagement session. We walked the streets of downtown Riverside and decided on Saffron's

I really liked the ambiance and the decor

Todd ordered the hamburger..they only have a few items on the menu and it changes everyday
the average price is about $10.00
Eating my meal under a tree ;)
Makes me happy~
I and Alexis ordered the veggie wrap with roasted bell peppers, hummus, cheese and avocado
couscous salad was refreshing and hearty

I think this is a great spot for lunch. The service is great, the ambiance is quaint and the wine and food were D'lish~
It's also a bargain for the quality of the meal~
